Sue Williams “The purpose of art is not a rarified, intellectual
distillate – it is life, intensified, brilliant life.”
Themes of darkness and light (both real and metaphorical) provide the inspiration for much of Sue’s work. There is pain, suffering, violence and death in this world but it is not the last word. Sue is always searching for images of serenity and peace. Mostly her desire is to find and capture the sense of Hope that life, in spite of its difficulties, always tries to offer us. She used to work exclusively in oils but now finds that acrylics, paper, textiles and found objects can offer additional depth and meaning to her art. |
